Chesapeake NG Ventures Corporation (CNGV) was formed in 2011 to identify and invest in infrastructure and technologies that will increase demand for America’s clean and abundant natural gas. Chesapeake Energy Corporation has committed at least $1.0 billion over the next 10 years to invest in CNGV initiatives.

To fund this effort, Chesapeake plans to invest approximately 1 – 2% of its forecasted annual drilling budget toward CNGV projects that will stimulate increased natural gas demand.

In 2012 CNGV was awarded the venture capital fundraising/launch of the year award from Global Corporate Venturing magazine and Global University Venturing. It was one of 150 companies evaluated.

CNGV Strategic Investments

CNGV identifies and implements strategic equity investments in companies and technologies that have the potential to create or increase demand for domestic natural gas by a minimum of 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day per investment.
