We actively recruit from the country’s best programs for our technical disciplines such as petroleum engineering, chemical and mechanical engineering, geosciences and energy management. We also seek excellence in other required disciplines including information technology, law, accounting, finance, GIS, natural gas compression and restaurant management.
At Chesapeake, students and recent graduates have the opportunity to work side by side with seasoned industry professionals and they can also experience working at one of FORTUNE Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For®.

Intern Program 2009
Chesapeake’s intern program maximizes our college recruiting efforts and encourages students to enter the industry while still learning. Our interns are mentored by experienced professionals in every department, where each performs real work during his or her time here and receives hands-on experience while adapting to our fast-paced environment.
The advantages speak for themselves. In 2009, 74 eligible interns were offered a full-time position with us. Our acceptance rate for these offers was 90.72%.
The 2009 summer internship program included 163 interns from 31 colleges and universities. The activities in this year's program included:
Summer Kickoff Party – A meet and greet with the CEO and senior vice presidents
Intern Orientation – Learned the history of the company with our CEO
Chesapeake 101 – Lunch & Learn sessions that focused on a number of our core departments: engineering, geoscience, land and information technology taught by the departments’ senior leadership
Personal Challenges – Lunch & Learn sessions that focused on personal topics such as home buying, business etiquette and stress management
Intern and leadership luncheons – Periodically scheduled at various restaurants throughout the city, these lunches featured members of the senior management team
Rig tour - Interns saw firsthand how our drilling operations work
After-hours – Go-Kart racing, OKC museum tour, OKC RedHawks baseball games and other entertaining outings
By summer’s end, our interns had a well-rounded preview of what work and life are like at Chesapeake, as well as our goals as an organization.
Our next recruitment schedule is set for this fall of 2009, so look below to see when we’ll be visiting your university.
