In anticipation of rising oilfield service costs and limited availability of drilling rigs, over the last few years Chesapeake has strategically made investments in drilling rig companies and assets. Our current ownership position is as follows:
- Nomac Drilling - our wholly-owned subsidiary, Nomac Drilling, L.L.C., has 80+ rigs in operation which represents one of the six largest land drilling rig fleets in the U.S.
- DHS Drilling - Chesapeake owns a 47% interest in privately-held DHS Drilling Company that owns 18 rigs, primarily focused in the Rocky Mountain region
- Mountain Drilling - Chesapeake holds a 49% interest in privately-held Mountain Drilling Company that owns six specialty rigs that are capable of drilling in urban or environmentally sensitive areas
