Chesapeake's Operations
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Chesapeake's operations are focused on exploratory and developmental drilling and corporate and property acquisitions in the Mid-Continent, Fort Worth Barnett Shale, Fayetteville Shale, Haynesville Shale, Permian Basin, Delaware Basin, South Texas, Texas Gulf Coast, Ark-La-Tex and Appalachian Basin regions of the U.S., which are illustrated on the map below. Our operating areas are characterized by long-lived natural gas reserves, established production profiles and an abundance of growth opportunities, both through the drillbit and through acquisitions. In each of our operating areas, the company's properties are concentrated in locations that enable us to establish substantial economies of scale in drilling and production operations and facilitate the application of more effective drilling and reservoir management practices.

Since early 1998, Chesapeake has built one of the largest inventories of onshore leasehold (13.9 million net acres) and 3-D seismic (20.0 million acres) in the U.S. On this leasehold, we have identified more than a ten-year inventory of an estimated 33,700 net drilling locations on which we can develop approximately 4.0 tcfe of proved undeveloped reserves and approximately 37 tcfe of risked unproven reserves. Chesapeake's 11.5 tcfe of proved reserves and its risked unproved reserves together total approximately 49 tcfe. This inventory provides the opportunity to create sustained reserve and production growth for years to come. We characterize our inventory by one of two play types: conventional gas resource and unconventional gas resource, which are illustrated on the following pages.
