Corporate Giving Guidelines

How We Give:

 

Chesapeake Energy Corporation welcomes applications for corporate support from organizations located in states where we operate.  Chesapeake’s funding is focused in five areas of service: Community Development, Environment, Health, Education and Social Services. Our contributions committee meets on a monthly basis to consider applications.  Proposals may be submitted by both email and hard copy to:

To apply for support:

 

  • Please note that you must be a U.S.-based IRS 501(c)(3) qualified charitable or educational organization or an accredited K-12 educational institution to apply for a Chesapeake grant.
  • Qualified organizations will need a 501(c)(3) qualified tax ID number or NCES (K-12 schools/districts) ID number to apply.  Individual K-12 schools need to provide both their NCES district ID number (seven digits) and school ID number (five digits). Most public U.S. universities or colleges will need to apply using the tax ID number for their 501(c)(3) charitable foundation or development office.
  • Please read our list of exclusions below to ensure that your organization and your project will qualify for consideration. 

Exclusions:

 

  • An individual person or families
  • Political candidates or organizations.  If you are seeking this type of support, please contact Chesapeake’s Corporate Development Department.
  • Religious activities, in whole or in part, for the purpose of furthering religious doctrine.  Faith-based organizations must provide services to all clients regardless of denomination.
  • Travel expenses
  • Nonprofit and school-sponsored walk-a-thons, athletic events and athletic group sponsorships other than Special Olympics
  • Door prizes or raffles
  • School-affiliated orchestras, bands, choirs, trips, athletic teams, drama groups, yearbooks and class parties
  • Individual collegiate Greek organizations or fraternity/sorority-related events or fund-raisers   

In-kind donations and services:

 

Chesapeake donates surplus goods (e.g., computers and trucks) to organizations within our operating areas of support. Please note the same eligibility requirements apply as stated above.
